Army Research Laboratory Human Research & Engineering Directorate (ARL HRED) Field Element at PEO STRI
The ARL HRED field office representatives are specialists based out of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland, and provide Human Factors Engineering (HFE) support to projects as members of the Integrated Process Team (IPT). Support includes planning, coordinating, and conducting studies and investigations, using human factors engineering (HFE) principles to develop and apply data to the human control, impact, and limitations involved in the man-machine relationships of training aids and devices undergoing development with the goal of reducing personnel, manpower, and training burdens. The chief of the field office functions as PEO STRI's MANPRINT advocate, providing consultative assistance on the MANPRINT domains consistent with the IPT process and Human System Integration (HSI) policy.
IMPRINT - Allows you to analyze new or existing training and weapon systems by helping you build models of each mission that the weapon system will be capable of accomplishing. IMPRINT is capable of performing equipment analysis, soldier analysis, workload analysis, and force analysis.
MAT - MANPRINT analytical tool under development is designed to accommodate MANPRINT issues and present outputs that have meaning to program managers and their staffs. Based on MANPRINT domain questions related to instructor/operator stations, student stations, and maintenance requirements and features, questions posed permit early influence of evolving systems and appropriate evaluation of the issues arising.
HITS - HSI Issue Tracking System (HITS) under development is designed to highlight and track MANPRINT issues and concerns. HITS maintains a crosswalk between specifications, test and evaluation master plans, and system MANPRINT management plan when this information is entered into the system.
