Orlando, Fla. (December 13, 2010) - The U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) - in collaboration with the Training and Doctrine Command Capability Manager for the Live training environment (TCM-Live)-revealed to industry representatives an enhanced Web portal for the live training community Nov. 29 at the annual Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC). The updated Web site design aims to expand communication among the Army (specifically, PEO STRI's Project Manager for Training Devices (PM TRADE) and TCM-Live), the live-training business development community, and the public. |

While the information on the Live Training Community portal is largely the same, the new layout expands the way PM TRADE and TCM-Live communicate with industry partners, said Tom Coffman, assistant project manager for training devices. While the previous site was mainly used for technological purposes, the revamped site is geared more toward industry, he said.
The new layout features an improved entry page with tabs that make material such as announcements and news briefings more accessible. The home page includes a Welcome tab, as well as links for News/Events, Product Descriptions, Live Training Standards, References, Developers, PM Tools, and Support. An additional link at the bottom of the page enables users to provide feedback.
The site is intended to be a first-stop for the live training community, while also expanding Army's live training presence among its industry partners, Coffman said. "It allows industry to find out about our products and programs, and what industry partners can offers us."
While login is required for access to some of the more secure features, the public site is meant to expand communication across the live training domain. The bottom line, Coffman said, is to increase the partnership between the Army and the live simulation and training industry.
