Orlando, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2006) - The Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) awarded General Dynamics Information Technology, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, a $17 million contract to construct the Military Operation on Urbanized Terrain (MOUT) site in Jordan. This combat training structure will be part of the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center.
"This capability enables our Warfighters to experience realistic force-on-force training that will sharpen their skills and prepare them for combat missions," said Maj. Robert Smith, project director for the MOUT at PEO STRI. "The systems we field today enable our Soldiers to be confident on the battlefield as they face real, live threats in this Global War on Terror."
The fully instrumented site will include 44 buildings in a 360-degree live fire urban operations facility with adjoining training ranges. The urban structure will be fitted with audio/visual instrumentation systems, exercise control and monitoring, and battlefield effects (smoke, sounds, smells and pyrotechnics). The fully configured site will provide video and audio of Soldiers being trained to allow for a rapid After Action Review.
