PEO STRI - Job Sharing

PEO STRI Reshape - Job Sharing

PEO STRI Employee Information

Job-Sharing is a program that allows two employees to be hired essentially to use one desk and perform one job with the hours of the work day split between the two. In effect, each is a part-time employee and between them they are expected to accomplish what one full-time employee would do.

PEO STRI does not have a formalized job-sharing program, principally because of lack of expressed interest. There is nothing, however, to prevent establishing such an arrangement for employees who are interested in part-time employment.

Please note that such an arrangement requires pairs of employees who can, and are willing to, share one job (and typically one desk) and work complementary hours adding up to a work day. From a management point of view it also requires confidence that the work can be accomplished by such a "team" which will inherently increase the likelihood of problems created by incomplete sharing of information and coordination of effort between members of the team. For purposes of "authorized" positions, one position would have to be unauthorized and we might have to request approval from AMC to exceed our authorization for that purpose. We have been advised that in this context such approval would not be difficult.

Where arrangements can be worked out this could result in potentially avoiding an involuntary separation during Reshape by converting two full-time positions into one "shared" position.
