The CCTT features realistic terrain, environmental conditions, and continuous time of day providing units the opportunity to train in day or nighttime conditions under realistic combat situations. CCTT uses realistic sound, vehicle, and weapon effects so units experience the cues, stress, and distractions of a real-life combat situation all in the safety of a simulator. |

In CCTT, units maneuver on four high-fidelity virtual terrain (i.e., Central Germany, National Training Center, Fort Hood, TX, and Kosovo) databases. In the future, units will also be able to maneuver on terrain centered on Chorwon Valley, Korea. |
The Primary 1-terrain database is a Temperate Forest replicating Central Germany with hills, forests, rivers and streams.

The Primary 2-terrain database is an Arid Desert replicating the National Training Center and Twenty-Nine Palms training area with flat desert, rocks, mountains, and wadi areas.

The Primary 3-terrain database covers the entire Fort Hood Military Reservation with some additional terrain North and West.

The Primary 4-terrain database covers 160 KM by 160 KM portion of Kosovo. |
In the near future, CCTT will also include a Korea terrain database centered on the Chorwon Valley.

Since units are subject to a broad range of environmental conditions in combat, CCTT provides units the opportunity to train under a variety of conditions including inclement weather where visibility is obscured by clouds, fog, and haze or rain and thunderstorms. By adjusting the environmental conditions under which the unit fights, the unit will experience degradation to their optical, thermal and image intensifier sights and reduced trafficability of terrain. For example, if the driver maneuvers his tank too fast and takes a sharp turn in the sand/mud, the vehicle could lose control and throw a track. |
|
CCTT replicates continuous time of day providing units the opportunity to train in day or night time conditions. The leader defines the starting time of the exercise and the CCTT simulates changes in light conditions, based on the time of day, as the exercise continues to run. The system also takes into account the time of year when simulating the time of day. For example, during winter months there will be less daylight than during summer months. |
|
CCTT uses realistic sound, vehicle, and weapon effects. When ammunition is fired, muzzle flashes and explosions add realism to the training environment. When vehicles are hit by enemy fire, units can see vehicle damage such as fire and smoke so units experience the cues, stress, and distractions of a real-life combat situation all in the safety of a simulator. CCTT replicates the following types of sounds: |
Indirect fire and explosions
Vehicle mechanical noises (i.e., engine noise, transmission noise, track noise, turret drive, fuel transfer pump noise, cupola rotation)
Collisions with objects
Direct fire and explosions
Mine explosions
Aircraft
