Command, Control and Communications (C3) Driver

Project Director: Randy Buzzell
Project Office: Instrumentation Management Office (IMO)

MISSION:

To provide end-to-end integration of planning, simulation and stimulation, monitoring, data collection and analysis services for the test and training communities. Those features are packaged as an easy-to-use, single box solution that integrates existing tools into a cohesive and concise package.

DESCRIPTION:

C3 Driver is a Federate of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) Common Tools in a single box that provides end-to-end system-of-systems event/exercise planning and execution. C3 Driver includes not only data collection and aggregation tools, but also tools for reduction, analysis, display and storage. It is an integrated family of systems consisting of the following: Starship/StarGen, which provides user interface andcommand/control; Remotely Reconfigurable Intelligent Instrumentation to Control, Collect, Stimulate and Simulate (RICS2), which provides data collection, stimulation, data reduction and analysis; Role Player Work Station (RPWS), which allows for role-playing capability; and Variable Message Format (VMF)/United States Message Text Format (USMTF) Test Tools, which serve as the Army-approved message validation tools. With C3 Driver, the effort and knowledge to configure and use a collection of advanced test instrumentation tools are reduced substantially. C3 Driver is widely used in the following environments: to test and evaluate Army tactical systems’ mission command networks and systems interoperability; to perform daily system-of-systems integration testing at the Central Test Support Facility (CTSF) at Fort Hood, TX; to develop Army Battle Command System (ABCS) thread; and to support the DoD Joint Mission Environment Test Capability (JMETC) as part of its Interoperability Test and Evaluation Capability (InterTEC) tools.
