MISSION:
To integrate all range instrumentation and sensor systems at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) into a Global Information Grid (GIG) compatible data transport network for effective distribution of classified and unclassified positional information data, voice and video.
DESCRIPTION:
The Digital Network Migration (DNM) project is a multi-year, Army major instrumentation modernization effort to upgrade the existing Test Support Network (TSN) infrastructure to achieve secure, interoperable, net-centric, robust bandwidth capacity of 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) at WSMR. The enterprise network capability is known as the TSN-Internet Protocol network (TSN-IP). In addition, all range instrumentation (radar, optics, telemetry and processing centers) and sensors (meteorological, etc.) have been integrated with the TSN-IP for effective, secure, real-time distribution of data, voice and video to support current and future (DoD) GIG requirements. The end-state capabilities delivered by DNM have significantly improved data delivery and network availability to three U.S. ArmedServices (Army, Air Force and Navy), industry and foreign military customers to support test and evaluation and training at WSMR. TheDNM project has delivered a 10 Gbps IP Core Network with 255 1 Gbps access points, a robust 40-channel core transport Dense Wave Division Multiplexing capability with associated Network Management Systems. In addition, 87 fixed and mobile instrumentation systems (radar, telemetry, GPS, optical trackers, processing centers and meteorological sensors) have been successfully transitioned to the TSN-IP Enterprise network. All systems comply with DoD Information Assurance policies and received authority to operate by the designated approving authority
