Applied Environments Modernization (AEM)

PM CT2

Mission

To modernize the applied environments test capability at five Army Test Centers within the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC): U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC), U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground (EPG), U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC), U.S. Army White Sands Test Center (WSTC) and Yuma Test Center (YTC). Applied environments are the climatic and dynamic environments Army materiel may encounter during its life cycle (i.e., storage, transport and handling). These environments are simulated throughout ATEC to provide support for the evaluation.

Description

Applied environments are the climatic and dynamic environments Army materiel may encounter during its life cycle (i.e., storage, transport, and handling). These environments are simulated throughout ATEC to provide support for the system evaluation. Due to aging test equipment, the test centers are at risk of not being able to meet mission requirements. Not addressing these test mission shortfalls will result in an inability of ATEC to effectively subject test articles to the full spectrum of global military operational environments; thus resulting in the fielding of systems with a lower or unknown degree of certainty for effectiveness and reliability. This has the potential to decrease the Army’s overall operational readiness and the Warfighter’s ability to perform their mission
