Mission

Develop and field high fidelity simulator suites to support individual and collective training with route/area clearance vehicles for each Clearance Company and at Ft Leonard Wood, MO, Engineer School. The VCTS enablers are fielded to clearance companies, Army (CONUS and OCONUS), Reserve and National Guard Installations.

Description

VCTS train route clearance operations, improve individual Soldier route clearance skills, teach the latest tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for route clearance, and how to employ the route clearance vehicles, future clearance systems, and appended subsystems individually and collectively. ​ .  The system incorporates all vehicles currently fielded within clearance formations including Clearance companies and newly formed Brigade Engineer Battalion Route Clearance Platoons.  The VCTS suite contains five self-contained mobile trailers, which includes simulators for the Mine Protected Clearance Vehicle (MPCV) – Buffalo with Debris Blower, Tractor Wheeled High Speed (TWHS) - Husky with the Husky Mounted Detection System (HMDS) and Wire Neutralization System (WNS), Medium Mine Protected Vehicle (MMPV) Type II / Gunners Station - RG31/ Panther with Vehicle Optics Sensor System (VOSS) and Rollers, and the Man Transportable Robotics System (MTRS) – Talon.
